When Good Projects Go Bad

The project you are about to see is very old. (Ravelry link) I just didn't have the heart to post about it before...

On the Mason-Dixon blog, I saw the pattern for the felted Button Hole Bag. I thought that it would be a quick & easy project. I was still dipping my toes bag into knitting waters. How hard could it be to knit up the bag and felt it?

I went to a LYS and picked up a couple of skeins of Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Worsted. I didn't bother swatching -- it is a simple enough pattern, right????

So I spent a day just knitting away. And then I felted. It felted very well.

Isn't it cute??? So why am I so upset? How about some scale?

Oh dear, that is some extreme felting. Isn't it maddening when all one's work shrinks down so?

Perhaps there is a little one in your life who would appreciate a new purse? Or you could fill it wilth yummy-smelling soap and use it as a gift back.
